RNS510 Navigation System – VW, Audi, Lamborghini – Force a map reload

I’ve had an issue where the maps stored on my RNS510 hard disk were corrupt. There wasn’t any way to force a recopy or a format of this on my firmware.

As such, here’s a modified firmware image. You’ll need to burn it with Nero Burning ROM (you can get a trial version from Google, that works for 30 days).

Put the disk in and do the 3 button reset. It will boot into the software recovery mode.
Don’t worry, it won’t wipe or touch your firmware. You can ignore the image version number below!

All it will do is format the Maps and MP3 sections of your HDD. You can edit the image to comment out the partition for MP3 if you don’t want to wipe that.

It saved my RNS510, and next time I put in the maps DVD, it copied back over to the HDD and all was good!
I have a VW GTI mk6 but it should work on any Audi, Lamborghini, or VW RNS510 unit that has the 30GB HDD.
